1.Write down the issue in a complete sentence. What is the exigence of the issue?
The main issue is the image that Barbie is giving to girls around the world. Barbie protestors feel to many girls think they have to have the bodies that Barbie has in order to be perfect. They also feel that Barbie is making girls feel less of themselves. But Barbie supporters feel that its a fun part of growing up. They feel that Barbie is a positive role model because she is able to do almost anything.

2.Explain the parts of the rhetorical situation and the intended audience.
I think the author of this is intended to females, mainly teenagers and women in their 20s because we were the ones who played with Barbies the most and can strongly relate to the controversial topic, if shes giving the wrong impressions to young girls.

3.Reconstruct the different positions on the issue, mentioning who holds them and why.
In the article, there are supporters of Barbie as well as non-supporters of it. Each group holds a different position and perspective on it as well. The author states that she is a twenty-something female who grew up in in America. She then talks about how her feelings and thoughts toward Barbie have changed over the years when she started learning about feminism. The big controversial issue behind Barbie is how we view beauty and how we view ourselves. The non-supporters of Barbie see it as something that makes young girls think they have to constantly look perfect, yet the supporters see it as a fun way of growing up.

4. Can you sense which position is favored by the author?
Yes, the author is definitely against Barbie. She feels that it is a scapegoat, and is to blame to women feeling like they have to always look perfect.
